Pearl Jewelry and Rings
Pearl is perhaps best known for being one of the June birthstones. Also, the way it is made is well-known at least when compared with how other gemstones are made. Pearls are primarily formed thanks to a mollusk that consists of the exact same material or texture as the mollusk's shell (e.g.: nacre or mother of pearl). Even since the dawn of time, pearl is one of the most prized and highly valued gemstones and as such, has been a fixture in the gemstone jewelry community for practically ever.
Whenever a foreign particle enters or even just penetrates the mantle, the cells will then attach to the aforementioned particle and build up concentric layers of pearl around it. Viola! And that's how pearl babies are formed!
In addition to being the official birthstone of June, pearl gemstone jewelry is also the official birthstone for the sun signs of Gemini and Cancer as well. Pearl jewelry is inset with a purely organic gemstone which is perfectly symmetrical. They're also usually quite large, which is quite fascinating due to their creation being completely entrenched in nature. Usually, organic gemstones tend to be on the smaller size for whatever reasons.
There are also many different types of pearls that can be used in gemstone jewelry including natural pearls, cultured pearls, baroque pearls, blister pearls, black pearls, mabe pearls, seed pearls, freshwater pearls and biwa pearls.
Cultured or freshwater pearls are for the most part considered to offer the powers of love, protection, money and to a lesser-extent, luck. Pearl jewelry is also thought to help enhance wisdom through experience and our favorite, quicken the laws of karma. So don't go bring yourself any bad karma if you happen to have any pearl jewelry on - you'll probably find the "other shoe" dropping fairly quickly. And by other shoe, we mean the stuff hitting the proverbial fan!
Pearls are also believed to help cement engagements and love relationships. Pearl jewelry or more so just pearls in particular are also thought to help keep children safe.
