You know you want a ring, so how do you start picking through the hundreds of rings we offer? Well, it's always good to start with picking the band. Stainless steel, silver, or gold? You can't go wrong with any of them but some are easier to wear than others. Gold, for example, won't go well with every outfit you own, whereas steel and silver match beautifully with almost anything. Choosing the right band is a matter of personal preference, so go with the one that you think looks best.
Step 2: Type of design on the band
Now that you've chosen the right band it's time to chose the right design. You can go with a simple plain band with no design at all or you can opt for an engraved design. I wouldn't go with a plain band unless you're going to get a gemstone, without a stone, a plain band is just...how do you say it...too plain? And depending on which finger you wear it on it can be mistaken for a wedding ring.
Step 3: Deciding on a gemstone

Step 4: Choosing the right cut
Now that you've picked out that perfect gemstone it's time to decide on the type of cut. There are two types of cuts that you can go with; the cabochon or the facetted cut.
The cabochon cut:
A shaped and polished stone, the cabochon cut results in a rounded top and a flat bottom cut. It usually only applies to opaque gems. Softer stones with a Moh's hardness scale of 7 or below should cut with the cabochon technique.
The facetted cut:
Basically, the facetted cut is a gemstone that has been cut so it has flat faces on it. Almost all diamonds are cut using the facetted cut.
