Swarovski is an Austrian company, founded by Daniel Swarovski, 1895. Swarovski, world leader in crystals, makes high-quality rhinestones and beautiful cut crystals such as the popular Silver Crystal figurines. The silver crystal was so named because of its brilliance and silvery sheen when held up to light. The crystals were made with lead, not silver. The crystal’s extreme clarity and brilliance was due to the addition lead to extremely pure glass during the manufacturing process

Swarovski and Christian Dior developed the iridescent aurora borealis stone. Aurora borealis means "northern lights". These sparkly rhinestones have a special iridescent finish that shines with many colors. The iridescent surface is a result of a very thin layer of metallic atoms that have been deposited on the lower surface of the stone. This coating is light and subtle, but is NOT invisible. It is flashy but allows light to pass through, so the crystal can still create rainbows. Colors of pale gold to bright blue, green, and magenta dance across surfaces all around the crystal.
